Which bike for me?
Ever heard the phrase "do one thing well or two things badly" I seem to apply this logic to most things in my life. Perhaps this is just me being a male and that I habitually struggle to do two things at once, but I prefer to think it's down to choice and conditioning.
I also consider that this mentality has, on a global scale spawned a few of the world's most questionable inventions. The Washer-Dryer, fundamentally does not operate, washing ok we'll give it that 1 but the dryers are generally useless. Gas and Barbecue, this can be just an outside cooker and defeats the struggle that's the present day day barbeque, where's the adventure? The chopstick fan to cool noodles before consumption, The telephone dumbbell to workout whilst functioning, the butter stick, visualize a pritstick created of butter..... the pizza fork , portion pizza slice portion fork. These are all actual and all truly stupid. Why not a Hybrid bikes?
So when I was first introduced to the idea of the Hybrid bike, a cycle developed to become suitable for both commuting and off road use. The jury is nicely and genuinely out.
Even so I've been pleasantly surprised to seek out an exception for the rule, it is in fact quite superior. I went for a test ride together with the notion of purchasing a single from my local cycle shop and was just a little unsure at initially. Im not for a second convinced that they may be upto the process of a "good" thrashing but are far more geared to a challenging jaunt to my nearby starbucks to study the paper.
They sit somewhere between Road and Mountain, with a roadie, traversing curbs, the odd grassy mount or puddles present a problem, the hybrid bike can tackle this without to much hassle. Mountain bikes have shorter gears so pro-longed exposure to long flat tarmac terrain becomes hard to the Hybrid again handles this a little better. It's effectively the grey area that these bikes come into their own.Personally for me hybrid bikes are nice around town or in the country side on a Sunday, if thats your bag, your sorted.
