There are a number of different factors that you need to ensure that your insurance covers for. Quite possible the most important is injury cover. This means that if you fall over or have any type of accident your ski insurance will protect you.

If you are unfortunate enough to have an accident then your ski insurance will cover all of your hospital bills and your transport to the hospital. It is important this is in place as foreign hospitals can be extremely expensive and the last thing you want to have to do is pay from your own pocket.

If you have a serious accident, as many people do, the injuries could be so severe that you are unable to travel home. This will mean that a new flight will need to be purchased. Your insurance should cover you for any additional flight costs incurred from an accident on the slopes.

Obviously, if you have to extend your holiday because of an injury you will need somewhere to stay. Your insurance should cover the cost of any additional accommodation you have to pay for. Normally there will be a limit to the nightly cost.

It is not always just you that is injured in a ski accident. If you collide with another skier on the slopes your policy needs to cover the cost of their injury too. This is known as third party liability cover similar to car insurance. It is important that you have this as part of your extreme sports insurance. You must also check the level of cover that you have on each section, if it is too low it is simply not worth investing in the policy and you should seek out one with a higher level of cover.
