by Wendi Osborne

The city of Folsom offers visitors and residents 32 miles of extensive bike trails that can be enjoyed at leisure or experienced as a challenging and adventurous bike ride. It is no wonder cyclists enjoy Folsom bicycle tours.

The only problem you may face is deciding which trail to take first! Depending on the skill level of the riders in your group you can choose a long challenging ride or an easy trail with a specific destination.

Families can travel along a bike path for a fun and entertaining day. The Humbug Willow Creek Trail is an easy path that will take you through both the city and countryside to a beautiful bird refugee area. Along the way is the Folsom kids play park, a great place to stop and play and have a picnic lunch.

Another easy and popular bike path will lead your family from downtown to the Folsom City Zoo sanctuary. This is a three and a half mile trek on a paved bike path. Once you arrive at the Zoo you can walk through the beautiful park like setting and observe the wide collection of animals that live there.

Lake Natoma has a nature bike trail that is easy to ride and offers scenic beauty. You may even run into a bit of wildlife on this path such as squirrels, egrets, ducks, wild turkeys, and once in a while even a coyote may cross your path.

Darrington Trail is an unpaved bike trail for the more adventurous and skilled cyclists. A 16 to 20 mile ride will lead you along a sloping hillside that overlooks the beautiful American River's South Fork. While this route may be a more demanding ride the breathtaking beauty makes it worth your while.

No matter what your age or skill level you will find a suitable bike path for a pleasant ride around the beautiful city of Folsom. Reaching your destination is only half the fun, riding your bike through nature is also a major part of the enjoyment. Grab your bicycles or head over to a rental shop and discover the amazing bike trails that await you in Folsom. Folsom Bicycle tours
